About the tool
A single-purpose converter for the white, or reversed, edition of a logo. It reads the shape of your mark from its transparency, or removes the tile, box or gradient it sits on, then paints the mark #FFFFFF. It runs the same recolour engine as Image Color Changer’s own white-logo tool, in your browser.
Need a colour other than white? The logo color changer handles black and custom brand colours.
This free online tool is provided “as is” without any warranties, express or implied.
Turning a logo white, step by step
- 1
Drop in the logo file
Any PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG works. A cut-out PNG keeps its shape exactly; an app icon or a JPG sitting on a coloured tile, a white box or a gradient has that background removed automatically.
- 2
Check it on dark surfaces
The white version appears on black, navy, charcoal and deep green straight away, so you can spot thin strokes or holes that disappear before the file goes anywhere.
- 3
Save the PNG or go full size
Save the free preview PNG to try the white logo in a mockup or a draft slide. For the clean file — and print, merch or further edits — open the same logo in Image Color Changer at full resolution.
What a good white logo file looks like
A white logo is only useful if everything around it is see-through. That is why the output is always a PNG: unlike JPG, PNG stores an alpha channel for each pixel, so the mark can sit on any dark colour without a box around it. Save a white logo as a JPG and it gets flattened onto a white background — in other words, it vanishes.
Contrast is the other thing to check. White on black is the maximum possible contrast ratio of 21:1, but white on a mid-tone colour such as a bright blue can fall below the 3:1 non-text contrast guideline. If the background is not clearly dark, test it before committing to the white version.
Finally, think about where the file is going. A 500px PNG is sharp in a website header or a presentation. Merch printers, sign makers and embroiderers usually want 2000px or more, or a vector SVG that scales to any size.
Frequently asked questions
- My logo sits on a coloured tile or a white box. Will that turn white too?
- No. The tool measures the outer band of the artwork — including rounded app-icon tiles and smooth gradients — treats it as the backdrop and removes it, so only the mark on top turns white. A busy photo has no backdrop to remove, so it comes back as a white monochrome stamp that keeps its light and dark areas rather than a flat rectangle.
- What happens to a logo with several colours?
- A mark built from a few flat colours becomes one pure white silhouette, which is the single-colour (reversed) version brand guidelines ask for. Illustrated logos with many shades keep their internal detail as lighter and darker whites instead of collapsing into a blob. Either way, check the dark previews for details that merged.
- Should I upload an SVG or a PNG?
- A PNG with a transparent background is the most predictable input, because its outline is already defined. SVGs are drawn at full size before whitening, so they come out sharp at any shape. JPGs work too, but compression noise around the edges can leave a slightly soft outline.
- When is off-white better than pure #FFFFFF?
- Pure white is right for dark websites, slides and screen-printed shirts. On cream paper, warm photography or video, a very light grey or ivory often looks less harsh. This free tool outputs pure white only; Image Color Changer lets you choose any shade.
- Why does the free download say PREVIEW?
- The free PNG — up to 500 pixels on its longest side — carries a light, tiled PREVIEW mark so you can test the white version in a mockup before committing to it. The clean file, at full resolution (printers and embroidery shops usually want 2000 pixels or more), is exported by our sponsor, Image Color Changer.
- Is my logo uploaded anywhere?
- No. The image is decoded and whitened inside your browser, and the PNG is created on your own device. Nothing is sent to Flowpoint unless you choose to open the logo in Image Color Changer.
