Understanding Net Promoter Score (NPS)
Net Promoter Score measures customer loyalty with a single question: how likely are you to recommend us, on a scale of 0 to 10? Respondents scoring 0–6 are detractors, 7–8 are passives, and 9–10 are promoters. NPS is the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors, producing a score from -100 to 100.
NPS matters because it distills sentiment into one comparable number you can track over time and benchmark against peers. Rising scores signal customers who stay longer and refer others, while falling scores flag churn risk early — giving teams a simple, consistent signal to act on.
