Platform Overview

Get to know the ABCs of Flowpoint.

What is Flowpoint?

Flowpoint is an AI web analytics platform for marketing teams. It helps you visualize the ways visitors use your website. With Flowpoint you can stay on top of shifts in user behaviors, detect changes in traffic trends, and rely on powerful AI tools to help you optimize your website for individual visitors. It's advanced, easy to use, privacy-focused, and priced for everyone.

How Flowpoint Works

Flowpoint tracks website visits and activity using client-side browser events and data captured by the Flowpoint script. It leverages AI to analyze and report on traffic and website performance.

Event Tracking

Here are the typical browser events captured by Flowpoint:

  • session_start: triggered when the user first loads the page

  • mouse_click: triggered at each mouse click on any element on the screen, and also gathers information about the element that was clicked for further analysis

  • page_scroll: triggered when the user finishes scrolling on a page, and captures information about the start point, end point, and duration of the scroll

  • session_end: triggered when the user closes the tab

  • session_resumed: triggered if a user restarts the session within 4h of their previous visit

Custom Events

In addition to general browser events, Flowpoint includes a Custom Events feature that enables you track virtually any interaction on your website. Explore the Custom Events documentation to learn more.

Visitor Data

Flowpoint captures visitor-level data. Here are the typical parameters tracked by Flowpoint:

  • IP Address: Identifies a visitor's approximate geographical location and their internet service provider (ISP). Learn about Flowpoint's IP tracking options in the Privacy Settings article.

  • Browser and Device Information: Type of browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) and browser version

  • Operating System: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, etc.

  • Device Type: Desktop, phone, tablet, etc.

Visitor ID

In addition to the visitor parameters we capture by default, you can also leverage the Visitor ID feature to identify website visitors by email address or a custom identifier. Learn more about this feature by exploring the Visitor ID article.

AI

Flowpoint leverages AI to analyze and report on traffic and website performance. Our AI analysis engine uses a blend of off-the-shelf models from OpenAI and Anthropic, and Flowpoint's own AI models and ML algorithms.

There are three primary ways that we use AI:

  1. To analyze website traffic and visitor behaviors in a highly scalable way

  2. To provide insights about website performance including recommendations around SEO, content, UI/UX, accessibility, and code debugging

  3. To power AI Assistant, Flowpoint's built-in chatbot that enables you to use conversational language to analyze your website.

Core Features

Flowpoint is comprised of nine key features:

  • Flows: User journey analysis tool

  • Path Explorer: High-level traffic overview

  • Insights: Automated performance and behavior alerts

  • AI Assistant: Conversational chatbot assistant

  • Page Inspector: Page-specific content and performance analysis

  • Dashboard: Website metrics and real-time analytics

  • Session Log: View individual user sessions and activities

  • Visitor ID: De-anonymize website visitors

  • Custom Events: Track virtually any interaction

You can explore these features on the main Flowpoint website or by exploring the feature articles displayed in the Docs sidebar.

Installation

Flowpoint is installed on your website by adding the Flowpoint script to the site's <head>.

We highly recommend installing Flowpoint globally across all website pages. This approach ensures that you get a holistic view of how visitors are exploring your website.

If you have multiple websites, you can add the same Flowpoint script to each of your sites or create separate projects (each with unique scripts) to manage your websites. Learn more about this approach by exploring the Managing Multiple Websites article.

Installation Guides

Flowpoint is compatible with virtually any website. Explore our installation guides to see how to install Flowpoint for specific implementations or frameworks:

Script Efficiency

The Flowpoint script loads asynchronously on your website. This approach prevents the script from impacting the speed at which your webpages are rendered.

Our script has an efficient load size of ~46KB. This is comparable to the Google Analytics script size Flowpoint also handles data transmission efficiently. On average, we capture about 200KB of data for every 800 user events.

Privacy

Privacy is a guiding principle at Flowpoint. Our philosophy is that your website data is your private property. We never share it, sell it, or see it.

In addition to Flowpoint's commitment to protecting you and your data, we also offer many privacy and security-oriented features that help you protect the privacy of your website visitors. Explore these features in the Privacy Settings article.
